Check out Christina Xayarath’s story, she’s one of the students who help designed Career Connections!

It wasn’t until Bassick High School senior Christina Xayarath participated in the “Career Connections” pilot project in Dr. Susan Spivack’s classroom that she knew what her career focus was going to be. “This project definitely helped me decide that I wanted to be a graphic designer,” said 17-year-old Christina. “I was always interested in graphics, but being on the graphic design team for this project and learning Web design helped me make my decision,” she added.

“I loved everything about Career Connections. I learned a lot and it was fun,” Christina said. “I learned about developing a website and working with other people. I experienced what it’s like to build a website – coding, designing, and how it relates to the internet,” she explained. “It was an ‘experience’ and it helped me learn more about graphic design,” she added.

Christina just recently applied to several universities and has already been accepted in the Graphic Design program at the University of Bridgeport. She is awaiting a response from UCONN, Eastern Connecticut State University, Central Connecticut State University, and others. Upon graduation she hopes to work for an advertising agency utilizing her graphics and Web design experience. We wish her the best as she moves forward with her career.
